Jug (medium)

£18.00

Handmade stoneware jug with an off-white glaze. The unglazed base provides a simple and rustic contrast between the smoothness of the surface and the texture of the buff stoneware clay.

The handmade process
The jug is thrown by hand on the wheel.

Once the jug is bone dry it is then fired in the kiln to 980 degrees centigrade (the bisque fire) which dries and strengthens it sufficiently for it to be glazed. The jug is glazed inside and around the rim using an off-white glaze before it is fired again, but this time to 1220 degrees centigrade.

Each jug takes approximately 3 weeks to make from start to finish.

Each one is individually crafted so no two are exactly alike (meaning the one you receive will differ ever so slightly from the one pictured)

Approximate dimensions:

  • Diameter at top: 65mm

  • Diameter at bottom: 80mm

  • Height: 125mm

Made using lead free, dinnerware safe glazes.
Dishwasher safe (but hand wash where possible)
