My Story

Welcome to Howe Farm Pottery.

Iā€™m Martin and my pottery is hand made in a small barn on our smallholding located in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. We are located in the picturesque village of Dorton, just a few miles outside of Oxford.

I enjoy making functional pottery that helps make everyday tasks feel a little more special.

My pottery journey began at a young age,

which I was reminded of when my parents recently returned to me a pot I made at the tender age of 9 or 10. I distinctively remember how much I enjoyed making it.

Now in my 40ā€™s I was curious to see if the spark was still inside me. I enrolled on a pottery course and quickly learned how inspired I felt by an activity that combined both my practical and creative skills.

I started practicing on a regular basis

and making pottery in the livestock trailer that was used for our cows. Needing a larger workspace and someplace suitable to work in the colder winter months, I converted one of our smaller barns to a studio. This now houses every stage of the making process. I throw, trim and glaze my pieces in the studio which are then fired, cleaned and made available to buy on my website.

Encouraged by the interest taken by visitors to the farm in my pottery, I am keen to make my work available to a much larger audience. I hope you have enjoyed visiting my site.
